Merry November was establihed in the fall of 2001 by Charlotte Ronja and Andreas Knudsen.

Inspired by such diverse artists like Gram Parsons, Einsturzende Neubauten, and Low, they have created a place of their own. Merry November is the singer/songwriter collaboration of Charlotte Ronja and Andreas Knudsen. Accompanied by organ and guitar these two voices front this dreamy and smooth, but sometimes also rough, or even aggresive music.

Andreas has a background from several years in the Norwegian underground music scene, being the band leader of Magnetic Tapes, and also playing with artists like St. Thomas, Ring, 10th Floor Orchestra, and many more.

Charlotte has background from contemporary dance, and Merry November marks her musical debut.

Merry November are currently a trio, with Tom Daniel Reiersen playing drums, and sometimes bass. As a live orchestra they might add a number of guest artists, including many of the people Andreas played with in his former band Magentic Tapes.

They're debut album "I'll Keep You Here" was recorded at Hauslia (Kristiansand), Circle (Kristiansand), Land Island (Asker), Eivind's apartment (Oslo), and Protofon (Etnedal) in 2002. At the time they were a quintet, with Charlotte (vocals, keys), Andreas (vocals, guitars, drums, bass, keys), Jan Birger (guitar), Andre (drums), and Tor (bass). A number of other musicians also played on this album: Eivind Schou (violin), Fredrik Rosland (accordion), Robert Jønnum (bass, drums, guitar, noise, keys), Guro Strande (vocals), and Arne Vigeland (lap steel). The album was recorded and mixed by Robert Jønnum. Mastered by Ingar Hunskaar at Strype Audio. Cover photos taken by Knut Bry.
